Windy Calloway

Arabian/Saddlebred Mix | Black, 13yr, 15h

This gorgeous and super friendly gelding is an absolute love and so eager to please.  It was the hope of his aging former owner that he find his forever home where he will be doted on as he deserves.  Calloway had a leg injury in his past when he was under one, which might limit his riding abilities if there is a desire to put him under saddle, but he has not shown any lameness nor has it hindered his day to day life whatsoever.  He’s an easy keeper, loves to be groomed, a gentleman for the farrier and REALLY enjoys liberty time!

Windy Calloway is available for adoption today!

Rainier (Registered Name: Tally Stick)

Off-Track Thoroughbred | Bay Gelding, 15yr, 16h

Rainier is a striking Off-Track Thoroughbred with a story that spans continents. He raced in both England and Canada before eventually finding his way to Colorado, where his journey took a softer, more hopeful turn.

Rainier came to us over two years ago with an existing chronic hoof injury that required our immediate attention, and since then he has been the focus of a dedicated, thoughtful rehabilitation program. While he made encouraging progress early on, he suffered a significant setback in the summer of 2025, blowing a quarter crack up to the coronary band. Since September 2025, Rainier has been under the expert care of the Johnson Family Equine Center in Fort Collins, CO where a team of specialists continues to carefully guide healthy, appropriate hoof growth with his long-term comfort as the top priority.

Due to the severity of his hoof injury and the development of arthritis in the affected foot, it is uncertain whether Rainier will ever be rideable again. For that reason, we are seeking a compassionate, knowledgeable home that values him for who he is—not for what he can do.

Rainier would thrive with someone who wants a meaningful connection: a horse to love, groom, hand-walk, and spend quiet time with, with the understanding that his future will require excellent farrier care, ongoing management, and plenty of extra TLC. In return, he offers a kind presence, a gentle soul, and the opportunity to give a deserving horse the comfortable, dignified life he has earned.

Rainier is best suited for a companion or limited-activity home with a committed adopter who can continue supporting his specialized care for years to come.

Whiskey (AKA Xtra-Whiskey)

Paint Gelding, Late Teens, 16h

Whiskey is a paint gelding who knows he’s big and beautiful! This gentlemen has been retired from riding but still enjoys being lightly worked with on the ground for walks, liberty and more.   He enjoys the attention, being groomed and massage and stretching work as he has developed some arthritis in his neck.  He’s a little bit of an amicable trickster, providing entertainment to his equine and human friends alike. Whiskey is currently being fostered as a sanctuary equine at the Bristlecone View Ranch in Fairplay with our other companion available equine Zara.

Xtra-Whiskey is available for adoption today!

Kiowa

BLM Mustang (Bordo Atravesado, NM) | Light Buckskin Filly | Age: Yearling. Born Spring/Summer 2024

Kiowa is a lovely yearling filly with light buckskin coloring accented by beautiful red highlights in her mane. She’s been friendly and people-oriented since the very beginning, even though she’s only been with us for a few short months after coming from the Canon City holding facility before it closed last fall.

Kiowa has made wonderful strides in her training—she’s been haltered, happily accepts pets all over, is beginning to lead on a lead rope, and is learning to pick up her feet. Her confidence and willingness really shine through in everything she does.

One of Kiowa’s sweetest traits is that she greets you every time you step into her pen, always curious and happy to engage. She’s a bright, personable young filly who will continue to thrive with consistency and positive handling.

Kiowa would be a fantastic match for someone looking for a young horse with a solid foundation, a kind disposition, and a lot of potential for the future.

Currently under training, may be available Summer/Fall of 2026.

JESSI

BLM Mustang (West Douglas, CO) | Palomino Filly | Age: Yearling. Born in captivity Spring/Summer 2024

Jessi is a beautiful yearling filly with stunning palomino coloring and a sweet little star that adds to her charm. She’s only been with us a few short months after being born in captivity at the Canon City BLM Mustang Facility, and we were lucky to bring her into our program before the holding facility closed in November 2025.

Jessi is still learning about the human world and can be a bit shy, which is completely understandable given her start in life. Each day, she’s making steady progress—growing more comfortable, allowing us closer, and beginning to accept gentle scratches. We’re taking our time with her, focusing on building trust and confidence at her pace, and she’s responding beautifully to that patience.

Jessi will thrive with a calm, understanding adopter who values the journey as much as the destination. With continued consistency and kindness, she has all the potential to blossom into a confident, willing partner.

Currently under training, may be available Summer/Fall of 2026.

FIG

BLM Mustang | Red sorrel colt | Age: Yearling. Born in captivity Spring/Summer 2024

We snatched this little nugget up from the Canon City holding facility in the Summer of 2025. Fig is a charming yearling colt with a friendly, curious personality and a stunning red coat that really catches the eye. He’s currently in training and doing wonderfully—learning the basics, accepting lots of pets, and just beginning to be haltered. Fig genuinely enjoys human interaction and is a sweet, willing youngster who likes attention and connection.

Based on his build and age, we’re guessing Fig will end up being on the smaller side, making him a great size for a variety of future disciplines. With continued gentle training and consistency, he’s going to be a lovely partner for someone looking to grow alongside a young horse.

If you’re looking for a kind, approachable colt with tons of potential and a heart as beautiful as his coloring, Fig might just be your perfect match.

Currently under training, may be available Summer/Fall of 2026.

Henry

BLM Burro rounded up in NV | Jack (male) approx. 9 yrs

Henry was rounded up from the Johnnie HMA in Southern NV in 2023 and moved around until he ended up in the holding facilities in Canon City. Brought to the Rescue in the Summer of 2025, this young BLM burro is a bit shy at first, but shows a gentle and willing nature once given time and patience. With calm handling and consistency, he’s eager to build trust and will blossom into a loyal companion. Henry has a unique red color along with his star within a star face markings make this fella about as handsome as can be. He’s looking for a home that has another burro for a friend and a person that has the time to connect with him.

Currently under training, may be available Summer/Fall of 2026.

OREO & peaches

Peaches (Brown & White) &
Oreo (Black & White)

Paint Mare Ponies | Estimated ages: Peaches 9 yr, Oreo Mid to late teens

This bonded pair that came to us from another CO rescue with 2 other friends. Originally coming from an auction situation, they were quite scared when we got them in the Fall of 2022. They will need someone that has experience and confidence to catch, halter and lead safely. With some months of positive reinforcement underway, they have begun to trust us humans
and will take some time to build those connections and relationships. Oreo now has some basic foundational skills and is doing obstacle work and Peaches is really beginning to trust us humans! At this point in their training, we feel they would benefit from being together in a home that can continue building these bonds.

Peaches & Oreo are available for adoption today!

YSABELLA

This cute little Jenny was rounded up in the summer of 2022 in Arizona. We rescued her from the holding facility in Canon City in November 2023. At this time, we are able to halter and touch her. She is slowly starting to be led as well. Ysabella is looking for a home that can continue her training and trust in human connection.
